Liminal...
The awkward and silly threshold of announcing announcements. Coming soon: new workshops, writing clinic, self-guided practice, in-person gatherings, and more.
••• A Brief Unfolding
Four years ago, I launched Liminal Bloom, a small coaching practice for creatives who long to work and grow from a place of deep self-trust. It started out as a sort of side project that I felt called to pursue alongside leading an established publishing business. When that business closed last year, the side project transformed into an irresistible albeit terrifying opening.
It felt cringingly on the nose to move from closing a profoundly challenging, scary, inspiring, and wildly fulfilling chapter—to embracing a challenging, scary, inspiring, and wildly fulfilling possibility called “Liminal Bloom.” But, cringe is a natural characteristic of change, of growth. And it’s never killed anyone, probably.
I called the coaching practice Liminal Bloom because it just fit. I knew the weird and awkward ooze filling the space between what is no longer and what is not yet, is maybe the most fertile stuff we can wade through when we’re trying to create something—anything—new. It’s the wobbliest but also best place to try, and test, and titrate. And I wanted to help people experiment through the ooze.
I’ve gotten to help people nurture, tend to, and blossom their biggest, bravest ideas. And, as my practice grew and shifted in support of others, it unsurprisingly also served as a vessel for tending to my own dreams and ideas.
Through a year full of small, seemingly (at first) unnoticeable yet sturdy steps, what had been gestating eventually emerged, ready to be. What that being looks like in its fullest expression is still emerging; sometimes shakily, often surely. But it is ready to be known.
So, I suppose, this is where I introduce you to Make Known. At first I thought Make Known was supposed to exist alongside Liminal Bloom, but the more it came into being, the clearer it became that Liminal Bloom was meant to birth Make Known. So, while Liminal Bloom as a business name will no longer be, its essence and my hopes and dreams for it live on in a new form.
Make Known supports independent authors seeking editorial grounding and publishing sovereignty. At the moment, you’ll discover that support in the form of literary zine publishing, a podcast, writing and publishing coaching and curriculum, and consultancy for independent authors—all made possible through collaboration with my comrades at Bury Me in New Jersey. There’s even more stirring, and it’ll emerge in the very near future.
••• Time as a Threshold
I would love to support you and your writing / publishing project in the coming year. And there’ll be lots of opportunities to work and dream together, in a range of formats and settings, like: new workshops, writing clinic, self-guided practice, in-person gatherings, and more.
I hope you’ll stay tuned to hear more about what’s on the horizon—there are more details coming in January, available right here, over here, and even here.

Yes, congrats, Katel, and thanks for this description and explanation of your journey and progression.
Love love love, Mom
Congrats, Katel! I'm so excited to see things bloom next year.
